Fred T. Colvin, Sr. 79, of Decatur, died on Wed., Nov. 2, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 11 a.m. Mon. Nov. 7, 2005 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Mr. Colvin was born on Dec. 8, 1925 in Thealka, KY. the son of Ray and Lizzie Mollett Colvin. Fred retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Feb. of 1986 where he had worked for 38 years as a supervisor of engineering records. He was an avid golfer and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Fred married Betty A. Stapleton on May 10, 1947 in Louisa, KY.
Surviving is his wife of more than 58 years, Betty of Decatur; sons: Fred T. (wife, Cecilia) Colvin, Jr. of Alaska and Dave (wife, Debbie) Colvin of Tennessee; daughters: Cheryl (husband, Rich) Herigodt of Freeburg and Judy Manners of Forsyth. Brother, Roy M. (wife, Pat) Colvin of Florida and sister, Frances (husband, Ray) Short of Ohio. Grandchildren: Jay (wife, Joy) Herigodt of Missouri; Judith Herigodt of Freeburg; Randy Colvin of Oregon; Tobias Colvin of U.S. Virgin Islands; Christina Colvin of Arizona and Meredith Colvin of Tennessee. Special nephew, Roger T. (wife, Page) Daniel of Kentucky and many other nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Ray Colvin and sister, Lois Ann Rigsby.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
